I haven't really applied for a job since I was hired at my current one before COVID. I've looked at a ton of indeed.com jobs that get sent to my email, but nothing says apply.
Am I in my forever job? No, probably not since I am a Federal Employee at an agency which is being targeted for cuts galore, but I'm not about to jump ships while I have good benefits.
I used to think MONEY was the main reason to work a job, but being able to take time off at the drop of a hat and health benefits out weigh money when you prioritize quality of life with your family over arbitrary possessions.
USAJOBS.GOV has jobs posted, but my agency isn't directly hiring. We have contractors filling the void. They make decent money and have less responsibilities.
They're not obvious jobs. Sometimes you have to know they exist to find them on Indeed.com. My BIL needed a job, so I told him about the contractors we have and sent him the Indeed.com posting. He applied for a contractor job through indeed.com and interviewed the other day. It may take a few weeks for a background check to clear, but once he's in he'll have a chance at being a Federal Employee probably.
I wouldn't want to be a contractor, but it's a job and it takes a job to get a job.
